Role Overview

The Senior Treaty Pricing Actuary will assess treaty reinsurance opportunities using advanced actuarial methods, internal and external data analysis, and direct collaboration with underwriters. This position emphasizes a balance between analytical acumen and business-oriented decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate treaty reinsurance opportunities for multiple lines of business, including property, general casualty, professional lines, A&H, and surety.
  • Develop pricing recommendations using sound actuarial methodologies with minimal supervision.
  • Enhance pricing frameworks by leveraging internal and external data sets to identify actionable insights.
  • Communicate analysis results effectively with underwriters, senior management, and external clients.
  • Participate in underwriting audits and client meetings to provide pricing perspectives.
  • Update pricing model parameters, including trends, loss distributions, and development factors.
  • Provide regular price monitoring and reporting information.
  • Stay informed on industry developments impacting pricing strategies and practices.
  • Contribute to model development, predictive analytics, and data visualization initiatives.
  • Mentor and lead junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of actuarial experience, with a focus on reinsurance pricing.
  • ACAS or FCAS designation.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with experience handling diverse lines of business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze complex reinsurance submissions and develop creative, sound conclusions.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams, brokers, and clients.

Preferred:

  • Experience in property and marine reinsurance pricing.
  • Proficiency in VBA, R, Python, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with predictive modeling and data visualization tools.
