We seek a Vice President, Actuary to lead our actuarial and analytics functions in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This role is pivotal in positioning the organization as a market leader in population health management analytics. The ideal candidate will oversee actuarial functions, client negotiations, and financial performance analysis while driving data-driven insights and implementing strategies that deliver measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Actuarial Leadership
- Oversee pricing, valuation, medical economics, and risk analyses to deliver cost savings for clients.
- Develop and manage actuarial policies, practices, and procedures with a significant organizational impact.
- Lead the creation of IBNR estimates and enhancements to pricing and underwriting models.
Data Analysis and Insights
- Analyze customer data to provide actionable insights into financial performance, define KPI targets, and monitor progress.
- Develop and refine healthcare tools, savings methodologies, and reporting systems to drive data-driven decisions.
- Present and coordinate analyses, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and client actuarial teams.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, data sciences, product development, and clinical services) to address business needs.
- Serve as the primary actuarial liaison for client health economics and actuarial teams, ensuring alignment on forecasts and assessments.
- Lead financial reconciliations with clients on a quarterly and annual basis.
Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with executive leadership to align actuarial initiatives with company goals.
- Contribute to the development and execution of organizational strategy in collaboration with the executive management team.
- Adapt to evolving priorities in a rapidly growing organization, ensuring timely deliverables.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing actuarial team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Oversee hiring, performance management, and professional development of team members.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- ASA or FSA designation is highly desirable.
Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in healthcare analytics, including 5+ years in clinical or managed care settings.
- Proven track record of leading skilled teams to achieve measurable results.
- Experience with population health and expertise in medical claims data.
