About the Role

The Sr. Consultant is a vital analytical role responsible for assignments in reserving, pricing, planning, forecasting, and research. You’ll work on projects requiring knowledge in actuarial methods, statistical analyses, and business operations. This role requires excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support filed rating plans and enhance pricing strategies.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Participate in strategic projects with responsibility for sub-components.
  • Propose and execute solutions to resolve challenges within assigned initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve project outcomes and meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to cross-unit and enterprise-wide initiatives as needed.

Operational Execution

  • Develop and implement rates, rating plans, and pricing strategies across business lines.
  • Maintain rate plans, manuals, and documentation.
  • Analyze data to refresh actuarial and analytics insights and apply judgment.
  • Monitor market trends, regulations, and competitive activities.
  • Prepare state filing packages and Department of Insurance (DOI) responses.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of filed rates into systems.

Communication

  • Present findings and project updates to managers and peers.
  • Communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences with support.
  • Create formal documentation, including memos and presentations, with guidance.
  • Actively contribute to group discussions and collaborative efforts.

Talent Development

  • Mentor and onboard new employees and interns.
  • Participate in training and skill development initiatives across the segment.
  • Support recruiting efforts, including candidate assessment.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in quantitative analysis.
  • Completion of at least 3 actuarial exams preferred.
  • Strong PC skills (e.g., MS Office) and basic programming knowledge (e.g., SQL, SAS).
  • 2+ years of experience in quantitative analysis is ideal.

Skills

  • Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Foundational understanding of insurance products and the industry.
  • Strong communication skills to present findings and recommendations.
