We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Actuarial Analyst to play a primary role in developing rate proposals and performing loss reserve analyses for personal auto and homeowner’s insurance. The ideal candidate will be involved in various actuarial functions, including data gathering, calculations, and generating insights for rate development, reserve reviews, and other actuarial projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Rate and Rating Plan Development
    • Gather, calculate, and analyze data to support the development of rates and rating plans.
    • Review insurance department data calls and participate in other actuarial projects.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Prepare and submit requests to create insurance-related data files.
    • Import data from the Actuarial Data Warehouse or other extracts into computer applications for report generation.
    • Perform data analysis using software applications and review results to make preliminary decisions.
  • Presentation of Results
    • Present findings and recommendations to management in alignment with company philosophy and guidelines.
  • Special Projects
    • Participate in special predictive modeling projects as needed, contributing to the company’s analytical capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • At least a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of three years of experience in pricing and/or reserving in the insurance industry.
    • Completion of at least four actuarial exams, with a plan to continue pursuing fellowship with the Casualty Actuarial Society.
    • Predictive modeling experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
    • Knowledge of SQL, SAS, or R is desirable.
