We are looking for a Senior Pricing Analyst to join our actuarial pricing team, providing pricing support across key portfolios, with a primary focus on Casualty. The role involves account pricing, portfolio analysis, and benchmark rate reviews, while also supporting other classes such as Political Risk, Credit, and innovation-led divisions.
This position requires a mix of strong technical pricing expertise, client-facing skills, and commercial awareness to contribute effectively to broker negotiations, client discussions, and the development of new pricing capabilities.
The role will report to the Insurance Pricing Manager and work closely with underwriting teams to align pricing strategies with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Expertise & Strategy
- Develop a deep understanding of Casualty classes, market trends, and underwriting strategies.
- Provide account-level pricing and collaborate with underwriters during broker negotiations and client discussions.
- Portfolio Monitoring & Model Development
- Perform ongoing monitoring of accounts and overall portfolio performance to identify trends and opportunities.
- Conduct model recalibration reviews to ensure pricing models are up-to-date and effective.
- Contribute to new management information (MI) initiatives to enhance pricing insights.
- Technical Development
- Support the collection, management, and maintenance of pricing data.
- Explore and develop new pricing methodologies, visualization techniques, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with the wider actuarial team to share knowledge and implement pricing improvements.
- Cross-Class Support
- Provide pricing support for additional lines of business, including Political Risk, Credit, and innovation portfolios as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Relevant general insurance pricing experience.
- 2.1 or 1st degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong academic performance, including high achievement in Mathematics at A-levels (or equivalent).
Desirable:
- Progress towards FIA qualification (or equivalent actuarial designation).
- Experience pricing delegated authority business.
- Model development experience.
Technical Skills
Essential:
- Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel and VBA.
Desirable:
- Experience in R or Python.
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Familiarity with building and utilizing dashboards in Power BI.
