Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Actuarial Investment Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
- Capital Model Expertise:
- Acting as a subject matter expert on the Group’s capital model design and calibration for investment and market risk.
- Leading efforts to identify and close weaknesses in market risk modeling.
- Investment Analysis:
- Supporting the Head of Investments in delivering investment analysis and capital modeling to guide the Group’s investment strategy.
- Monitoring updates from the external ESG model provider and analyzing their impact on Group capital.
- Model Updates & Governance:
- Ensuring timely delivery of quarterly updates on Market Risk and the Economic Scenario Generator (ESG) to reflect the Group’s investment risk profile.
- Preparing and presenting changes to the capital model to actuarial managers and governance committees.
- Maintaining robust documentation on market risk and ESG methodologies, calibration, and model outputs.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Leading the development of investment data solutions to enhance model inputs for the Group’s portfolio.
- Serving as the primary contact for market risk-related queries from actuarial teams, Finance, and the Group’s ESG provider.
- Participating in technical actuarial discussions and contributing to departmental insights.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- Qualifications:
- Degree in a relevant mathematics-based subject.
- Progress in actuarial studies, with at least 6+ actuarial exams completed.
- Experience:
- Relevant actuarial experience, ideally in investments or market risk.
- Familiarity with capital modeling and, preferably, Igloo software.
- Skills:
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to apply knowledge to complex scenarios.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to design practical and proportionate solutions.
- Proactive and collaborative mindset, with the confidence to engage and challenge business practices.
