We are seeking a motivated and experienced actuary to be a key member of our established Reserving team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to quarterly reserving processes, lead innovative projects, and collaborate with diverse teams across our Lloyd’s and non-Lloyd’s entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the quarterly analysis of technical reserves across multiple lines of business.
- Drive reserving projects, including process automation and modeling for specific lines of business.
- Enhance existing models, dashboards, and visualization tools for improved insights.
- Contribute to the annual review of the UK portfolio and prepare actuarial reports for UK legal entities.
- Conduct regular and ad hoc studies on specific segments to support decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with claims, finance, underwriting, and actuarial teams to develop and refine tools and methodologies.
- Liaise with external actuaries, auditors, and regulators as needed.
- Improve management information and reporting for Lloyd’s, PRA, and ACPR compliance.
- Communicate key trends, movements, and events to the business on a quarterly basis, with opportunities to present findings at management meetings and Reserving Committees.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Post-qualified experience in a reserving role within the Lloyd’s or London Market.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and Solvency II; knowledge of IFRS17 is advantageous.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and their impact on the business.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, underwriters, and clients.
- High integrity, independent thinking, and an analytical mindset.
- Flexible and capable of managing workloads to meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on greater responsibility.
- A team-oriented approach, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Education & Technical Skills
- Qualified actuary with relevant non-life insurance experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with the following tools and software is desirable:
- VBA
- SQL or R coding
- Python or Tableau
- ResQ software
