An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Reserving Actuary to join an actuarial reserving team overseeing diverse products across the UK and Europe. This role is focused on delivering high-quality actuarial advice, fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring technical excellence in key reserving and business planning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver quarterly reserving advice, reserve variability analysis, and business planning insights.
  • Perform forecasting of technical provisions, reserve margins, and uncertainties to support business analysis and reporting.
  • Partner with the business to conduct deep dives into portfolio segments, providing actionable insights.
  • Develop and coach student actuaries, with opportunities for direct line management.
  • Supervise and allocate responsibilities within a small team, ensuring high-quality outputs and performance feedback.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, enhancing efficiency and challenging the status quo.
  • Use advanced systems and actuarial models to ensure accurate data analysis and decision-making.
  • Manage workflow independently, handling projects with multiple components while maintaining strategic focus.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to customer-focused initiatives.
  • Stay updated on regulatory developments and broader actuarial trends to align processes with industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within an actuarial function, preferably in general insurance, within a multinational financial services organization.
  • Deep understanding of industry best practices in actuarial analysis, modelling, and underwriting.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate and influence effectively.
  • Proficiency in Excel and analytical tools, with expertise in developing advanced models.
  • Agile and responsive approach to stakeholder needs, with the ability to question and improve established processes.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills, with a forward-thinking mindset for long-term planning.
