About the Role
We are looking for a Reserving Analyst to support regular reserving processes for our managed syndicates. This role will involve close collaboration with various teams, including Claims, Underwriting, and Finance, to ensure effective feedback loops across Reserving, Capital, Pricing, and Portfolio Management. You will also help enhance our reserving methodologies and develop SQL, Excel, and VBA-based tools to improve process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in quarterly reserving, directing and reviewing tasks for designated classes.
- Estimate claims and premiums on a UK GAAP basis.
- Manage data processing and checks throughout the reserving cycle.
- Participate in discussions to set reserves and refine methodologies.
- Conduct in-depth portfolio reviews and reserving tool enhancements.
- Support regulatory deliverables, such as Solvency II provisions.
- Provide insights for new lines of business and mentor junior team members.
Required Qualifications
- Fully qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent).
- Degree in a numerate field (1st or Upper 2nd class preferred).
- Experience in reserving and reporting, ideally within the London Market or similar.
- Strong IT skills, with knowledge of VBA, SQL, or Python being advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach.
