We are seeking a Pricing Actuary to play a key role in the development and enhancement of pricing frameworks, supporting underwriting decisions, and contributing to overall business strategy. The role focuses on technical pricing development, compliance with regulatory principles, and analytical support across underwriting and financial planning functions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a nearly or newly qualified actuary with London market experience to contribute to a growing team and drive innovation in pricing processes and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Pricing Development
- Design and implement pricing algorithms that enable technical pricing at the class-of-business level, ensuring compliance with Actuarial and Lloyd’s Principles.
- Deliver accurate and timely account-level pricing to support underwriters’ decision-making processes.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Support compliance with Lloyd’s Principles to achieve recognition as an Established Syndicate for Pricing and Portfolio Management.
- Assist in selecting premium risk parameters for input into the Internal Capital Model.
- Portfolio Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor and analyze underwriting loss trends, including frequency and severity by segment.
- Conduct analysis using internal data, pricing models, and external trends to support business decisions.
- Business Planning Support
- Provide actuarial inputs to the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team during the business planning process.
- Innovation & Technology
- Drive innovation by evaluating and incorporating new technologies and tools into the pricing platform.
- Enhance pricing processes with automation and advanced programming capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary (IFoA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in the insurance industry, including actuarial pricing experience in the London market.
- Strong technical proficiency in Excel (including VBA) and intermediate to expert knowledge of SQL and Python.
Desirable:
- Experience with pricing platform enhancements or automation initiatives.
- Exposure to capital modelling processes.
