Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead IFRS 17 Planning Actuary to oversee the production and communication of business planning and forecasting across the organization. In this role, you will drive the IFRS 17 business planning process, provide insightful analysis, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with wider business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical
- Lead and enhance the IFRS 17 Business Planning and Forecasting process for annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting exercises.
- Analyze and communicate profit and loss drivers, generating detailed outputs to explain results to senior stakeholders.
- Conduct peer reviews to ensure high-quality assurance of colleagues’ work.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet broader business needs.
- Support colleagues and contribute to achieving team and organizational objectives.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to assistant reporting actuaries.
- Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor for IFRS 17-related matters.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new initiatives, and changes in regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other reporting teams to ensure consistency in the preparation of different sets of accounts.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
- University degree in Mathematics or a related field.
- Qualified or nearly qualified actuary.
Skills and Abilities
- Solid commercial and financial knowledge.
- Advanced MS Excel skills; knowledge of VBA, Access, and SQL is advantageous.
- Experience with analytics and visualization tools is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective time management, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize.
Knowledge and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS 17.
- Proven experience in reserving, with knowledge of the Lloyd’s market being a plus.
- Strong understanding of actuarial valuation techniques, including those used in pricing and capital modeling.
- Knowledge of reinsurance and its impact on reserving.
