The Director of Actuarial Pricing will lead a team focused on developing and implementing innovative pricing strategies. This leadership role requires close collaboration across departments to optimize pricing and achieve business objectives. The director will manage actuarial activities, develop new products, create rating structures, and ensure alignment with market and financial goals. This role is available for both Auto Pricing and Specialty Pricing teams.


Key Responsibilities

Pricing Strategy and Development

  • Lead the development of product line pricing assumptions and price structures, ensuring objectives are met.
  • Direct the creation and implementation of new products and process improvements.
  • Provide short- and long-term planning recommendations by developing and analyzing forecasts to meet unit objectives.
  • Oversee the development of pricing strategies that align with the company’s product goals.
  • Monitor competitive market, industry trends, and regulations to inform product development.

Team Leadership and Personnel Management

  • Manage and hold accountability for the work of assigned actuarial team members.
  • Perform personnel management functions, including hiring, team building, workload management, employee training, and performance evaluations.
  • Mentor and guide team members through effective communication and collaboration.

Collaboration and Innovation

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of products and projects in coordination with other teams.
  • Stay updated on innovative actuarial alternatives to meet financial and market goals.
  • Represent the company’s interests at industry committee meetings.

Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure risks related to business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies.

Compensation and Location

  • Work Environment: Flexible, with in-office presence required 4 days per week.
  • Location Options: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Charlotte, NC; Tampa, FL.

What You Bring

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 8+ years of relevant actuarial experience.
  • 3+ years of direct team leadership or management experience.
  • Completion of at least five exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).
  • Experience leading teams with effective collaboration, communication, and mentorship.
  • Passion for driving creative, innovative actuarial work and leading through development and execution.
  • Expertise in translating detailed analytics into visualizations and communicating results to executive leadership.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing tasks, and building strong business partnerships.
  • Proficiency in data analytic tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Deep understanding of Personal Lines pricing, methodologies, tools, and models.
  • U.S. military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner is a plus.
