We are seeking a Chief Actuary for our Commercial Property and Casualty business, focusing on Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines. This leadership position is part of the C-suite team and involves managing actuarial staff in key functions such as pricing, reserving, and other actuarial responsibilities. The role requires collaboration with auditors, underwriters, reinsurers, and other senior executives to ensure the profitability and financial stability of our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Actuarial Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage the actuarial staff, ensuring effective execution of pricing, reserving, and other actuarial functions for Commercial Property and Casualty (P&C) business, with a focus on Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines.
- Provide strategic leadership in actuarial pricing and reserving to support business objectives and profitability targets.
- Serve as a key member of the C-suite team, providing actuarial insights to inform business strategy and decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior executives, auditors, underwriters, and reinsurers to ensure alignment on actuarial objectives and risk management strategies.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with external partners and internal teams to ensure accurate and efficient communication of actuarial findings, recommendations, and insights.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on pricing and reserving for E&S lines and other commercial P&C products.
Staff Development and Management
- Oversee the development and management of the actuarial team, providing guidance on best practices and fostering professional growth.
- Ensure that the actuarial staff is equipped with the tools, training, and support to succeed in their roles.
What You Bring
Required Experience
- FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society) certification.
- 15+ years of experience in both reserving and pricing for Commercial Property and Casualty (P&C) business, preferably including Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines.
- Significant experience in managing actuarial teams and staff.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives and external partners.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex actuarial findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of pricing and reserving methodologies, particularly in the E&S space.
- Experience in managing large, complex actuarial projects and teams.
