A leading financial services organization is seeking a Senior Actuary to oversee valuation, modeling, and reporting functions while supporting the Chief Actuary in financial analysis, capital planning, and regulatory reporting. This strategic role demands technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate ambiguity to deliver impactful results. The position is based in Indianapolis (Hybrid, 3 days a week).


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quarterly actuarial valuation and lead the annual assumption-setting process.
  • Support actuarial aspects of financial reporting, business planning, and regulatory filings.
  • Conduct in-depth experience analysis on life and annuity decrements and policyholder behavior.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and approved actuarial teams during audits.
  • Work with the Chief Risk Officer to design and document actuarial controls and critical risk governance policies.
  • Review and validate MG-ALFA valuation outputs, including asset and liability cashflows.
  • Analyze and explain quarterly changes in statutory reserves.
  • Oversee the monthly reinsurance settlement process, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and tasks as needed.

Minimum Requirements, Skills, and Experience

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent designation.

Experience

  • At least 7 years of post-fellowship actuarial experience, preferably with annuity reinsurance and asset modeling exposure.
  • Expertise in actuarial valuation software, such as MG-ALFA (experience in programming and systems automation is a plus).
  • Familiarity with fixed deferred annuities (e.g., FIA, MYGA) and valuation of annuity products.
  • Proven experience in actuarial valuation process design, controls, and automation.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting, and solvency frameworks, including:
    • Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) and Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) regulations.
    • Solvency II, US GAAP, US Statutory, and US tax frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results under tight deadlines.
