Overview:
This position seeks an experienced actuarial analyst to join the firm’s Actuarial Technical Team. The role focuses on reviewing actuarial calculations, ensuring efficient processes, and supporting the development of junior team members. Typical tasks include actuarial valuations, funding updates, transfer value calculations, accounting disclosures, risk transfer analyses, and GMP equalization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboration: Work with technical team members and internal client teams to scope, process, and verify data, calculations, and statutory reporting for DB pension scheme clients in line with established procedures.
- Scheme Analysis: Review and analyze scheme information, including benefit summaries, past valuation data, and benefit changes.
- Technical Expertise: Use bespoke valuation systems to perform detailed checks on actuarial valuations and outputs.
- Process Improvement: Participate in ad hoc projects with colleagues to enhance efficiency and refine processes.
- Mentorship: Guide and support junior team members in developing their actuarial knowledge and skills.
- Industry Awareness: Stay updated on legislative and industry changes relevant to defined benefit pension schemes.
- Flexibility: Occasionally travel to other office locations as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in defined benefit actuarial work. Ideal for actuarial students interested in shifting to a technical-focused role.
- Education Support: Support provided for those pursuing IFoA examinations.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the legislative framework and structure of defined benefit pension schemes.
