A leading international organization is seeking a highly skilled Lead Project Reserving Actuary to join their Actuarial Reserving team. Key Responsibilities
Technical
- Lead Actuarial Projects: Oversee projects undertaken by the Actuarial Reserving team, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Group-Wide Collaboration: Represent the Actuarial Reserving team on cross-functional initiatives, ensuring key actuarial considerations are integrated into group projects.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with auditors and external actuaries, ensuring robust analysis and challenging key assumptions.
- Reinsurance & Loss Development: Lead the calculation of group reinsurance covers and the construction of loss development triangles for reporting and accounts.
- Performance Analysis: Lead Performance Related Pay (PRP) analysis, providing valuable insights to senior management.
- Mentorship & Quality Assurance: Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to assistant reserving actuaries, ensuring the quality of their work and contributing to their professional development.
- Technical Expertise: Become a trusted advisor for management on reserving and related matters, offering insights and recommendations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvements in valuation processes and methodologies, driving efficiency and best practices.

Personal Specification
Education & Qualifications
- Degree: University degree in Mathematics or a related field.
- Professional Qualification: Fully qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent).
Skills & Abilities
- Commercial Knowledge: General understanding of commercial and financial markets.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with ResQ reserving software is desirable, along with competence in MS Excel. Knowledge of VBA, Access, SQL, SAS, WPS, R, and Python is beneficial.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to deliver accurate and numerate insights.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work well within a team as well as manage tasks independently.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Knowledge & Experience
- Reserving: Significant experience in actuarial reserving, with Lloyd’s market knowledge being a desirable asset.
- Solvency II: Familiarity with technical provisions under Solvency II is preferred.
- Reinsurance: Strong understanding of reinsurance structures and their impact on actuarial analysis.
- Project Management: Experience managing actuarial projects and leading cross-functional teams.
