About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Reserving Actuarial Analyst to join our dynamic team, supporting the delivery of essential reserving processes across a range of portfolios. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the analysis and development of key actuarial tools and work closely with teams across the business, including Underwriting, Claims, and Finance. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring effective collaboration between Reserving, Capital, and Pricing functions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Quarterly Reserving Processes: Assist in estimating ultimate claims and premiums on a UK GAAP basis, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Data Management: Oversee data processing, validation, and checks, ensuring the integrity of inputs throughout the reserving cycle.
  • Deep-Dive Analysis: Conduct in-depth reviews of specific portfolio areas to uncover trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Tool Development: Contribute to the enhancement of in-house reserving tools using SQL, VBA, and Excel, ensuring systems remain efficient and robust.
  • Regulatory Deliverables: Support Solvency II Technical Provisions, US Trust Fund calculations, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with teams across Reserving, Pricing, and Portfolio Management to enhance the feedback loop and decision-making processes.
  • New Business Lines: Assist in evaluating and analyzing actuarial impacts for emerging or innovative lines of business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Educational Background: A 1st class or Upper 2nd class degree in a numerate subject.
  • Professional Progression: Demonstrable progress toward an actuarial qualification, with a preference for experience in reserving, ideally within the London Market.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Desirable experience in programming languages such as VBA, SQL, and Python.
  • Problem Solving: A creative and analytical approach to solving complex challenges.
  • Efficiency & Automation: A keen eye for process improvement and optimization.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Work Ethic: A proactive, reliable, and driven approach to achieving objectives.
