This role leads a key team responsible for delivering pricing strategies for a portfolio exceeding $1 billion in annual premiums. Working closely with actuarial, product management, and underwriting teams, the Commercial Auto Pricing team ensures the organization’s financial objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Reserving teams to drive business unit success.
- Conduct detailed pricing analysis, including rate development, rating plans, and portfolio management strategies.
- Manage and deliver trend analyses, loss development factor updates, and other parameter adjustments for periodic loss ratio studies.
- Provide input for portfolio management and pricing tool enhancements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Support the governance and monitoring frameworks for pricing tools and related processes.
- Lead efforts in maintaining and advancing pricing tool capabilities, including familiarity with underlying data sources and Power BI monitoring.
- Participate in organizational decision-making processes, providing independent and critical insights.
- Offer support for rate filings, including formal indications and evaluations of pricing levels.
- Lead, mentor, and develop actuarial staff by creating Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Foster communication and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment and shared success.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of actuarial experience and FCAS (or equivalent certification), or
- Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of actuarial experience and ACAS (or equivalent certification).
- Proven people management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in Commercial Auto pricing.
- Experience across multiple actuarial functions such as pricing, reserving, and capital management.
- Strong skills in pricing studies, including rate indications, trend analysis, and parameter updates.
- Proficiency in developing and managing pricing tools with post-implementation monitoring.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing and mentoring actuarial teams.
- Technical acumen and multi-level leadership experience.
- Solution-oriented mindset with excellent collaboration and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience driving organizational change and delivering business improvements in complex environments.
- Project management experience.
- Preference for candidates with FCAS certification.
Compensation:
The role offers a competitive salary and benefits package based on experience, skills, and location. Additional rewards include performance-based bonuses and merit increases. The starting salary range for this position is $168,400 to $275,800, adjusted for geographic factors as applicable.
