This role supports rate development across multiple lines, including General Liability, Property, and national initiatives. The position involves managing rate filing schedules, overseeing filing capacity, and collaborating with teams to ensure accurate and timely rate, rule, and form submissions. You’ll liaise with internal and external stakeholders to streamline processes, resolve issues, and ensure filings meet strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Participate in strategic initiatives, contributing to assigned project components.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to address challenges in initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance project efficiency and meet timelines.
  • Engage in cross-functional and enterprise-wide projects as needed.

Operational Execution

  • Update and conduct basic actuarial and analytical analyses with guidance.
  • Support departmental initiatives and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Manage rate filing schedules, monitor capacity, and oversee submission and approval of filings.
  • Provide project updates to management and assist with enterprise-wide initiatives.

Communication

  • Communicate findings and project updates to managers and teams.
  • Present technical topics in an accessible format to relevant stakeholders.
  • Draft formal communications, such as memos or presentations, with supervision.
  • Participate in discussions on actuarial and financial matters during meetings.

Talent Development

  • Act as a resource for less experienced team members and assist with onboarding.
  • Support training programs and skill development initiatives across the department.
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts by providing insights and guidance.

Qualifications

Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least one actuarial exam completed (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic programming (e.g., SQL, SAS).
  • Prior internship or related professional experience is a plus.

Competencies

  • Developing leadership skills with a focus on self-awareness and managing ambiguity.
  • Strong business acumen, with foundational knowledge of key drivers like underwriting, sales, and claims.
  • Ability to analyze data, perform basic analytics, and apply insights effectively.
