The Australian partnership of Deloitte Touche has more than 570 partners and 6,000 people located in 14 offices across the country, plus offices in PNG, Timor-Leste, and India, with revenues of AU$1.336 billion for the fiscal year ending 31 May 2015 a 15% increase over the prior year.
Building on our success with Deloitte in the UK, Hewitt Stone had an opportunity to work with Deloitte in Australia to find a suitable senior individual for a leadership role.
Due to the continued growth of risk and actuarial talent requirement in the region, local supply falls short of local demand. However, there was also a need to balance local knowledge with international exposure, particularly at the senior leadership level. The need to create this balance between local and international experience was quite challenging bearing in mind the limited pool of local talent.
Following our consultation with the client, we decided to focus on seeking out high calibre senior level actuaries who originate from Australia but worked across other international locations such as the UK. This was to be a key factor in addressing the balance between local and international experience.
With the combination of extensive research and the right message, we were able to identity a suitable candidate whom we convinced to apply for the position at the firm.
The interview process went through a few rounds, and by the end of the process, both candidate and client were satisfied that joining Deloitte in Australia was the right move.
We successfully filled the position and continue to maintain a good relationship with Deloitte Australia.
